Youth Mountain Bike Program

We are excited to be back at the San Geronimo Valley Community Center! Together, we are starting back up with our after school bike rides for 3rd through 5th graders. Although we have made a few small safety-oriented changes to our routine, the key elements of our rides like adventure, experiential learning and being out in nature are still intact.

New for 2021! All participant parents must go to the parent portion of the CDC website and familiarize themselves with the available CDC concussion information. https://www.cdc.gov/headsup/pdfs/youthsports/parents_eng.pdf

Meeting Location: In front of the Loft on the Lagunitas School Campus

Time: 3:20 to 4:45

Dates for this session: October 7th, 14th, 28th and November 4th (no ride October 21st)

Come join our group as we explore our local trails. Our rides will be designed to engage our kids, while maintaining safe speeds and respecting their limits as we work our way up to being prepared for middle school and high school biking down the road.

All participants will be asked to keep a three-foot distance and weir their masks whenever we see other people on the trail or are not riding. This fall, we will be meeting in front of the Loft at 3:20 pm and return by 4:45.

All participants need to have well adjusted bikes that are built for mountain biking. Their bikes should have gears, knobby tires, and two well adjusted brakes. Please go over your riders bike with them and address any mechanical issues that may cause problems on the trail. Also, please help your student pack all of their cycling gear including their undamaged and properly fitting helmet, bike gloves, lots of snacks and plenty of water. I recommend a light wind beaker or rain jacket (when appropriate) that can be carried in a pocket or hydration pack. Lightweight knee and elbow pads and protective eyewear are, also, recommended.

Please feel free to reach out to me at emilemulholland@gmail.com with any further questions about our rides.

*If you have a rider who wants to try mountain biking but may want to drop out, please reach out to me before singing up. Because of website and credit card fees, I am not able to offer full refunds.
