Virtual After School

We are very pleased to announce that partner organization, Kids Cooking For Life, is bringing their new program, Kids Cooking @ Home, to our local youth in San Geronimo Valley and Nicasio. Kids Cooking @ Home offers a series of virtual cooking classes committed to healthy eating and home cooking – all kid-led. Cooking is a great way to incorporate textbook knowledge of culture, chemistry, mathematics, agriculture and geography. Students receive their own basic cooking kits with all the ingredients needed for the lessons (plus an apron, essential kitchen equipment and pantry staples) and utilize their school laptops to partake in this experiential learning. An experienced KCL teacher guides them through recipe reading, measuring, chopping and mixing which will end with a delicious and healthy meal for the family.

The program is four weeks long, beginning April 13, 2021, and participants’ food kits and kitchen equipment will be available at the Community Center. Each weekly class offering a Kids Cooking for Life curriculum based lessons curated around four pillars of healthy eating: Be Sugar Smart, Eat the Rainbow, Total up on Whole Grains and Lean on Protein. This excellent and fun program is being offered to two groups of San Geronimo or Nicasio youth – one group of 4-5 graders and one group of 6-8 gradersall available to local families free through amazing donor support! If you would like to sign your child up, please email Nicole Ramirez, nramirez@sgvcc.org. These spaces should fill up quickly, so please reach out to Nicole asap.
