West Marin Senior Services is on the front lines working diligently to keep our older adults supported as we cope with this unprecedented event together. Care Managers are available to assist anyone over the age of 60 years in need of our programs and referrals.

WMSS Home Delivered Meals Program is available to seniors over 60 years and living in West Marin. Contact Amena Hajjar 415-663-8148 x104 amena@wmss.org sign up today, and receive up to 7 meals a week delivered to your door by our volunteers. This program is free, we ask for a small donation, but is not required to continue receiving meals.

Fairfax is launching a 1 – 1 Volunteer Program to match local residents in need during this difficult time with local community volunteers to assist them with shopping, picking up prescriptions, etc. and checking in on what support may be needed over the coming weeks.  To sign up for help, or to volunteer or for more information Click here.

Right now Fairies are fluttering all over Marin running a TREMENDOUS number of errands every day, and forming Fairy/Neighbor partnerships that will enable us to tackle what comes hand in wing. Marin grocery stores offering senior-only shopping times

Good Earth: Everyday 9 am to 10 am. Reserved hours are for those who are 60+, pregnant, or immunocompromised.

Safeway:  From 7 am to 9 am, Tuesday and Thursday, elderly and at-risk shoppers are invited to shop safely.

Costco: On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 to 9 am they will open to seniors and at risk shoppers.

Target:  8 am on Wednesdays is reserved for their elderly and at-risk customers.

Whole Foods: Whole Foods is reserving 8 am – 9 am daily for its elderly and at-risk shoppers.

Nugget Markets: To accommodate seniors and Nugget Markets in Novato, Corte Madera, and Tiburon will open at 7 am

Financial Support During Shelter in Place 

Unemployment Insurance 

Those unable to work during this time are able to apply for unemployment insurance.

Disability Benefits 

Those infected by COVID-19 may apply for disability insurance. The California Governor’s Executive Order waives the one-week unpaid waiting period, so you can collect DI benefits for the first week you are out of work. If you are eligible, the EDD processes and issues payments within a few weeks of receiving a claim.
