Where: Meet at the San Geronimo Valley Community Center
Join the staff at the Community Center for a stroll around parts of the French Ranch Open Space Preserve
This 403 acre preserve was added to the MCOSD system in 2000. It incorporates the south-facing slope above the western end of the San Geronimo Valley. Together with the Gary Giacomini and Roy’s Redwoods Preserves, these lands constitute a major portion of the Lagunitas Creek watershed, so management practices in this area involve protecting and improving habitat for the endangered coho salmon.
Funding for this program, at least in part, is made available by Marin County Parks and Open Space Measure A Funding and by the Older Americans Act, administered locally by the Marin Department of Health and Human Services, Aging and Adult Services.
Measure A protects the parks, opens spaces, and farmland that make Marin an extraordinary place to live, work, and play. By law, Measure A’s quarter-cent sales tax supports projects and programs that benefit parks, open space, and agricultural lands across Marin.
