Job Title: Arts and Events Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Development and Strategic Initiatives

Rate of Pay: $58,240 Annual Salary

FLSA Status (Exempt / Non-Exempt): Non-Exempt

FTE/Hours per Week:  1.0 FTE  (40 hours/week, 52 weeks)

Date of Hire: January 1, 2023

Team Collaboration: Communications, Fund Development

Job Overview: Coordinate and oversee visual and performing art exhibits and events to foster a sense of community, creativity, and artistry in our community. Collaborate with Fund Development and program teams to produce and oversee all community based and fundraising events.

Job Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Performing Arts:
    • Communicates with talent, books shows, coordinates community involvement, and manages ticket sales and talent payment.
    • On-site management of performing arts shows including: set-up, sound and tech, and breakdown.
    • Promote and manage Valley Arts and Lecture Series from application to fruition.
    • Coordinate and oversee all aspects of performing arts events.
  • Fund Development:
    • Plan and coordinate the Annual Gala, Golf Tournament, and other fundraisers in collaboration with the development and leadership teams.
  • Visual Arts:
    • Work closely with the visual arts coordinator to produce monthly artist exhibits, group shows, thematic shows, and community art days.
      • Work with a team to hang shows and set up exhibits.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with the Valley Art Community while forging new relationships with emerging artists to build an ongoing visual arts program.
  • Communications:
    • Work closely with Communications to promote events and ensure events are calendared in master calendar and on website calendar.
    • Collaborate with Communications for eventbrite creation, poster/flyer creation and
    • Work with external PR (radio, local newspapers/magazines) in Collaboration with Communications to promote events.
  • Volunteer Relations:
    • Engage and supervise volunteers supporting in the visual and performing arts programs and appropriately steward volunteers through ongoing outreach and adequate thanking.
  • Stone Soup:
    • Contribute Visual and Performing Arts articles

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Proven knowledge of visual arts, talent management, and booking
  • Demonstrated success in planning fundraising events
  • Arts background and/or education
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • In depth knowledge of event management
  • Project management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Interpersonal skills

Experience and  Requirements:

  • 3-5 years in visual arts, performing arts, and events coordination
  • Knowledge of MS Office, google suite, and sound technology and equipment
  • Must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation, including:
    • Sit for extended periods of time
    • Regularly lift or lower objects up to 50 pounds (especially during set-up and break down of events)

Title: Family Advocate – Youth Programs

Reports to: Director of Programs

Positions Available: Part-time, hourly position

Description: Family Advocates are key team members working in the areas of youth services, wellness and prevention, and recreation. These team members serve as boots on the ground providers, interacting directly with our community, and caring for the people in our programs. This position may work in any of our after school childcare programs (Zoila’s, LOFT, VAST, Wellness & Recreation). This role may work primarily in one program but could be a combination of various youth serving programs based on needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide care for children/teens
  • Maintain a safe play environment
  • Observe and monitor children’s/teen’s play activities
  • Ensure children/teens have good hygiene and follow public health guidelines
  • Clean interactive areas and sterilize toys and play areas throughout the day
  • Assist children/teens with their meals and prepare healthy snacks
  • Organize and lead developmentally appropriate activities for children/teen
  • Help children discover new interests by introducing them to art, music, sports, and other potential hobbies
  • Follow daily routine and schedule
  • Support children’s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts
  • Ensure children are learning positive behaviors and providing guidance or approved discipline, as needed.
  • Assist Youth Program Team in keeping records of each child’s progress, interests and any problems that may occur
  • Communicate with children’s parents or guardians about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues
  • Support Wellness Lounge activities
  • Support Valley Afterschool Tutoring (VAST) activities via child/teen support

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Possess a good understanding of the childhood and teen development process
  • Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with and caring for children and teens
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills to converse with children and teens, fellow professional caregivers and parents or guardians
  • Excellent patience and stamina for keeping up with the demands of children of all ages
  • Advanced multitasking and organizational skills to handle multiple children and teens at a time
  • Attention to detail and to the needs and safety of children and teens
  • Foreign language skills not required but a plus

Experience and License Requirements:

  • CPR Certification (can be completed after hire but prior to start date)
  • Mandated Reporter Training (can be completed after hire but prior to start date)
  • Experience and/or education in childcare and child / teen development
  • Knowledge of Google Suite, MS Office

Job Title: Recreation and Wellness Advocate

Reports to: Wellness and Recreation Coordinator

FLSA Status (Exempt / Non-Exempt): Non-Exempt – Hourly

FTE/Hours per Week:  25 hrs week / 52 weeks

Pay: $23.99 per/hour

Team Collaboration: Wellness / Recreation

Job Overview: Provides direct program support in the Community Center’s Community Gym with its Recreation and Wellness Programs. Be able to work a variable schedule with non-traditional business hours (2:30pm-8pm) and weekends.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Community Gym – Wellness and Recreation

  • Provide support and supervision for all recreation activities in the Community Gym
  • Coordinate and plan Gym activities for all ages (innovate new activities and implement and grow existing activities)
    • Create opportunities for family gym activities – examples: Hoops and Hotcakes, Family Fund Runs and Rides
    • Create opportunities for seniors to engage in healthy living activities – examples: strolls, field trips, exercise classes.
  • Support volunteers in planning, running, and coordinating open gyms and gym based activities
  • Work alongside the Wellness and Recreation Coordinator to plan and coordinate after school sports including but not limited to CYO Basketball
  • Maintain a safe, healthy and positive environment

LOFT

  • Coordinate and plan Gym activities for teens at the LOFT after school program
  • Provide support and supervision of children/teens attending the LOFT
  • Organize and lead age appropriate activities
  • Help children and teens discover new interests by introducing them sports and other potential hobbies
  • Guide LOFT participants on walks, hikes, and outdoor activities in surrounding open space
  • Follow LOFT schedule
  • Support children’s and teen’s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts
  • Ensure children and teens are learning positive behaviors and providing guidance or approved discipline, as needed.
  • Ensure children and teens have good hygiene and follow public health guidelines
  • Clean interactive areas and high touch areas throughout the day
  • Assist Youth Program Team in keeping records of any problems that may occur
  • Communicate with supervisor related to children’s daily activities, behaviors, and related issues
  • Work with supervisor to help children and teens progress towards emotional and behavioral goals
  • Identify signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and escalate them to supervisor to communicate to parents or guardians

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Have a passion and knowledge for sports, recreation, and the outdoors
  • Be able to work across all age groups to engage them in healthy and engaging activities
  • Possess a good understanding of the childhood and teen development process
  • Caring and compassionate attitude when interacting with and caring for children and teens

Title: VAST Tutor
