The San Geronimo Valley Community Center is proud to present the work of Virgil Shaw in the Maurice Del Mue Galleries in October. There will be a reception for the artist on Sunday, October 9th from 4 – 7:00 p.m.
Virgil Shaw was raised on the coast near Stinson Beach and in Fairfax, he now lives in Forest Knolls with his family. He was born into a family of artists (three generations) who reveled in both visual and musical art and it shows in his work.
He is a renowned singer-songwriter as well as a talented painter and cartoonist.
As a musician, Shaw recorded and toured nationally with Dieselhead (including performing two U.S. tours as the opening act for Link Wray). He later toured as Virgil Shaw and the Killer Views and has recorded a number of well received solo albums including Quad Cities, Still Falling and At the Time I Didn’t Care.
As an artist, Shaw has exhibited at San Francisco’s Gallery 16 and the Capsule Gallery in New York. He’s participated in the annual Spring Art Shows but this is his first solo exhibit at the Community Center.
Shaw says as much as he likes to paint he currently can’t always find the time. He’s found the ideal creative outlet he needs in his sketches and cartoons which he says he can do at the kitchen table.
