Activities for Seniors

Zumba For Older Adults

The Community Center is pleased to announce a new class for seniors! Zumba for Older Adults will start Monday October 11th from 10:30 – 11:15 am.  This hybrid class will be taught by Jimna Calmell. Jimna has lived in the San Geronimo Valley for many years, raising both her own children as well as her grandchildren and she has been a longtime volunteer with the SGVCC.  She is currently teaching Zumba at Vivilon and would like to bring her energy and love for dance and community to the Valley. This Zumba class is for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class. This lower intensity workout focuses on balance, range of motion, and coordination. Come ready to sweat, and leave feeling stronger! The class focuses on all elements of fitness: cardiovascular, muscular conditioning, flexibility, and balance!

The Community Center will offer this class in person, in the Valley Room, as well as on Zoom.  If you are interested in joining by Zoom, please contact Julie Young  jyoung@sgvcc.org

Senior Art Exhibition

Each year we have a gallery show of art work from our very talented senior artists and crafters. Watch for the announcement of the annual Senior Art Show or contact Larry Rippee at (415) 488-8888 x252.

Volunteer Opportunities

We have many ways that seniors support the Center for its various programs and activities. Please call Nicole Ramirez at (415) 488-8888 x254 if you have some time to spare and we’ll find a job that fits your interests and schedule.

Funding for this program, at least in part, is made available by the Older Americans Act, administered locally by the Marin Department of Health and Human Services, Aging and Adult Services.
