AmeriCorps VIP Fellow open position
The San Geronimo Valley Community Center is seeking a candidate for an AmeriCorps VIP Fellow position for 2017-2018. Responsibilities include recruiting, training and leading new volunteers for Community Center programs. As an AmeriCorps Fellow, you would coordinate community outreach strategies for volunteer recruitment, developing and distributing marketing and communication materials. You would create and expand local, community-based volunteer opportunities. Responsibilities also include conducting outreach to build business partnerships, tracking development of volunteer programs, and serving side-by-side with volunteers to provide guidance, better understand the Community Center’s needs, and improve the overall volunteer experience.
The AmeriCorps Volunteer Infrastructure Project (VIP) creates effective volunteering programs in established direct service nonprofits, so that those organizations can better meet community needs. AmeriCorps is often referred to as the ‘Domestic Peace Corps.’ You’ll join other AmeriCorps members serving a national network of hundreds of programs throughout the U.S. who are committed to using national service to address critical community needs. Commit to a full-time 11-month term of service, beginning in October 2017. The program includes an annual stipend, and education award and basic health care benefits.
