The Gym is Coming!

We are getting close to realizing the Valley dream of a gym. LOOK AT ALL THE PROGRESS that has been made!! Even being this close we still are short of the of all the funding we need to completely finish the interior. If you are able to make a donation or you can volunteer your time as a painter, carpenter, electrician, plumber, landscaper, or all around handy person please contact:

San Geronimo Gym Pouring Footers

These photos of the San Geronimo Valley Gym and Youth Center were taken as the project progressed. Alten Construction has been doing an incredible job in very challenging conditions. Freezing mornings, rainstorms, and wind did not stop Alten’s crew in bringing our Community’s 30+-year dream of having our own facility to life!

San Geronimo Gym End Phase 2

The Gym:
The 5,800 square foot regulation gym will include a basket ball court and bleachers and is suited to all kinds of activities requiring a large space. During school hours, the Gym will be used for school based physical fitness, health, and athletics. After school it will be managed by the San Geronimo Valley Community Center for community use, including sports leagues, camps, recreation, and educational programs. In addition the space can be used for community meetings and celebrations.

The Youth Center:
At the front of the building, upstairs, the 1600 sq. ft. Youth Center will be made up of two rooms, one large and one small. It has been designed so that the two rooms can be opened up into one flexible space, able to be used for a wide range of activities. It overlooks the gym area, with a great bird's eye view of the action on the court! Downstairs will be bathrooms, storage and the office. The Youth Center will be a great place for kids to come together, plan activities (such as the popular middle school dances), get tutoring help and do homework, use computers, watch movies, engage in classes and just hang out together. The new space will allow the San Geronimo Valley Community Center to expand and enhance its current youth programming.

-A Full spectrum of athletics including children's and adult leagues, drop in basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, dodge ball and more!

-Classes including yoga, dance, gymnastics, t'ai chi and fitness for all ages

-Special Community Events such as dances, concerts, indoor movie nights, meetings festivals and community celebrations!

-Shelter Space for Valley emergencies and disasters
The Youth Center - An Extension of the San Geronimo Valley Community Center will provide:

-Dedicated Youth Center space for programs and activities

-After School Enrichment Programs for all ages - art, music and more!

-Support For Families including Valley After School Tutoring (VAST), emotional literacy, and parent education programs.

This long awaited, join use facility will support health and recreation programs, diverse activities and services to all members of the community as well as school based physical education.
